Space Mission

This week we have had  lots of space missions to complete in our Space Log. We started by taking photos  of each other wearing our space helmets and mission badges using the Ipods  and printing them out to put in our log. We watched a film about space food and found out how food is prepared and eaten on the space station. We tasted some 'space' potato too.

We have also been doing lots of training exercises like the astronauts do before they go to the space station.
astronaut tunnel crawl

we had to do as many star jumps as we could - it was hard work

we had to do sit ups and bench presses to improve our astronaut strength

this was where we were working on our throwing and catching skills - you have to be good at catching things on the space station

                                                              astronaut agility

After all our training this week we should make very good astronauts!!

Astronaut colouring

We have set up our own space station in the classroom and have all been busy making space helmets to wear. We have also been finding out more about Tim Peake. we learnt that his mission is called the Principia Mission. We have made mission badges just like the one that Tim Peake has on his uniform.
We had to colour like astronauts to make them - that meant we had to lie on the floor and colour our badges in under the table. It was hard work but at least we didn't have to worry about our paper and pencils flying about because there was no gravity!! Here we are doing our astronaut colouring!!

Happy New Year

Welcome back to school and a new term of learning!!
We have been thinking about our New Year Resolutions and you can come and see them in our classroom - what's your New Year Resolution?
We have also been thinking about our learning for this term - we will be finding out more about Space so we watched a short film about the planets and then discussed what we already knew ( which was quite a lot!!!) and what we would like to find out about. We  know that a British astronaut called Tim Peake has gone to work on the International Space Station but we want to find out more about him and  what he is doing. Lots of us are interested in what you can eat and do in space and also in finding out more about the planets and stars.
